These sweethearts met through mutual friends and from then on started a great friendship. 9 years have passed and they are finally tying the knot…“We talked everyday and hung out all the time for 3-4 years until we decided to take it to the next level and start a real relationship.”
As a kid, Keyry wanted to become a Cop when she grew up, “I passed the tests but my mom would probably never sleep.” Andy wanted to be a race car driver, but is now a consultant for a financial software company.”

Keyry, on choosing a Destination Wedding:
“Would you believe it, Andy actually inspired me to have a destination wedding! It had NEVER crossed my mind but we LOVE going to the beach and we go to Dominican Republic very often and decided what better way to get married … surrounded by nothing but love at the beach! The beginning process stressed me out so much. I didn’t even know here to start. Slowly, everyday, I dedicated some time to doing more research and I came across Katya’s blog. That lead me to other groups like the Facebook Punta Cana one. AMEN! Then of course I came across JellyFish and just loved it. I booked my engagement pictures in Santo Domingo with Katya & Rob, and decided to take the opportunity on that trip to check our Jellyfish Restaurant for ourselves. Instantly we fell in love with the place, the vibes were perfect for us and our group. Andy LOVED it too and that was that!”

Andy’s top three favourite things about Keyry: “I love her smile, her selflessness and determination.”

Keyry’s top three favourite things about Andy: “I love his sense of humour, its hilarious and if you don’t know him you would think he’s very serious, his patience, and his face, haha.”

Ideal day together according to Keyry: “I forever love to binge watch Netflix shows and eat a lot of crap without feeling bad.”

Ideal day together according to Andy: “I also love Netflix but we both work a lot and sometimes we get away by taking a day and going into the city and visiting new restaurants and just doing random spontaneous things.”

Keyry on the Proposal: “Andy travels for work to do trainings in other countries so sometimes I tag along, we were headed to London and France for a week so I was getting the idea that maybe it would happen there.. the week passed by and no dice. It was funny because i made sure that everyday I was well dressed just in case. We returned and I was losing hope…our anniversary is on Halloween, so I always look forward to pizza, brownies and scary movies. Andy was busy that week with lots of work, the day before our anniversary I asked him if he picked out the movies we were going to watch. He didn’t seem excited at all and I got really frustrated. The next day I contemplated staying in. He begged me to come over and I obliged, I threw on my sweats and a sweater and I get to Andy’s and we start getting comfortable and start looking for what to watch. Andy says he has a surprise for me, he was going to wait for my birthday 11 days later, but decided to give me one of my gifts ahead. He brings out this blanket wrapped in a purple bow as he starts to untie the blanket, I read “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” That moment will live in my heart forever…I was in pajamas for goodness sake in the comfort of our current home. It was perfect. (Andy’s mom stitched up the blanket, which makes it even more special, and the beginning of many family collections)

Keyry’s favourite guilty pleasures: “Binge watching and we have this funny thing that we do, we do not eat junk food except when we travel because technically it “doesn’t count” so we have had some really good Mcdonalds ice cream in brazil and some chicken nuggets in France. haha.”

Andy’s favourite guilty pleasures: “Her guilty pleasures are mine, which usually have to do with food and also my car, haha.”

When Keyry’s upset or irritated, Andy makes her melt by: “Giving me this stupid look with those big eyes and lashes- I just can’t help it!”
Keyry soothes Andy by: “Kissing my hand.”

Keyry: “I love that he’s such a good son…I baked cookies one time, because my father in law loves Oatmeal raisin and there was one left, so Andy broke it in three to share with his parents and I remember telling myself if that would have been me, I would have eaten the whole thing.”
Andy: “Keyry loves to help out and has a huge heart when it comes to doing things, she never expects anything in return and will go out of her way for so many things, you don’t really find people like that anymore.”

Keyry: “He has inspired me in so many ways. He has always pushed me to my full potential. He’s super patient and my biggest supporter. I probably wouldn’t be where I am without him.”
Andy adds: “She has definitely made me a better person. She’s showed me how to be more affectionate and now I always think of someone else before I think of myself.”
Keyry and Andy will have a mini-moon at Eden Roc, Cap Cana and an ‘official’ honeymoon in Costa Rica.

BRIDE & GROOM POST-WEDDING REFLECTIONS:
1) Most memorable moments from the Day / Wedding week?
“Probably seeing everyone arrive and being so happy that people actually love you to the point that they flew miles to watch you and your SO get married. The day of the wedding I made sure I looked at everyone sitting down at the ceremony. I remember reading in Katya’s blog that you should take the time and look out to everyone looking at you… i cant even begin to explain to see your friends and family there.. Also when saying your vows, a different deep connection happens with your SO. I’ve looked at Andy plenty of times in my life but something about that moment…. amazing.”
2) Do you have any regrets? What would you have done differently if you could?
“I really don’t have any regrets except maybe organizing little things a little better. For instance having everyone ready and around when it was time to take pictures and pre packing all my stuff for the ride back to the resort. really no big things. after the wedding i started to over analyze but then i said “the wedding is over, its not like i can go back and fix it..” basically dont sweat the small stuff!!”
3) What inspired your colour palette / decorations / any DIY elements / any unique details or traditions?
“I really love the pastels at beach weddings, I decided to incorporate the navy blue also. I think that all came out very nice. The gold, blush and blue fit perfectly. My wedding dress had a lot of detail and the guys wore floral bow ties, I didn’t want to have an overload of too many thnigs but more attention to detail on the little things. For the bouqet, I used my cousins beautiful blue butterfly brooch she used for her wedding and daughters baptism. That was very special to us.”
4) Any comments about vendors, resort etc
“I loved all my vendors, I cannot say enough about the team I had. Everyone was so happy and helpful. The Jellyfish team felt like family, Mibsan and his team were so professional, the MC and DJ were amazing, Anna Nuet kept us laughing all morning and last but not least Katya and Rob are like extended family at this point. They took our engagement pictures and it was really special them being there to capture our wedding.”
5) Staying on Budget:
“There are some things Andy and I had to really sit and talk about, granted we did our BEST to stay on BUDGET but we went over just a bit. I was fixated on having excellent photos and I would cut corners with other things if needed to, to make this happen. I also knew that video would be something we needed to do. A lot of people opt out of video which is fine, but having video was really important for us. I am the first of my family to have a big wedding like this so it meant the world to me to have pictures of everyone who was there. I always see pictures as an investment! I would love to see pictures of my folks when they got married but have never been lucky to find one. I wanted to make sure my future children had better luck!”
6) On narrowing down the guest list to a reasonable number:
“If we would have had a wedding in New York, I would have for sure had at least 300 people. We had 100 in Punta Cana. Our rule was if we haven’t spoken to you in a year, you didn’t make the list. We went into this wedding knowing that we could not make everyone happy and as much as everyone means to us our first priority was US. what made US happy. After we let go of the thought of having everyone happy the guest list became so much easier to do.”
7) Communication: any challenges in keeping your friends & family informed about your wedding plans?
“This was such a big hassle for me! I updated the website as much as I could, texted and emailed people, and did the best I could to keep everyone in the loop. I had international guests so Whatsapp was a great app to use to get in touch with everyone. Not too bad for 100 guests and the day after the wedding we had 60 for the boat party!”
8) Bridal buys: shopping advice for stationary, accessories, wedding dress etc
“I found this great place here on Long island for invitations, I wanted to really make nice invitations to set the tone for the wedding: check out Fat Cat Paperie. For theengagement party, we used Minted which I love, just used them for the thank you cards as well! Accecories: Bloomingdales. Shoes: Manolo Blahnik.
Wedding Dress: Danielle Caprese for Kleinfeld
Flower Crown: Etsy”
9) Any advice for future Brides/Grooms!
“Brides, dont go too crazy! dont sweat the small stuff. I let go and had the time of my life the day of our wedding.. we partied, we danced and we probably cried a few times but it was the absolute best day of my life. Don’t give the Grooms a hard time, trust me there were times I could not stand Andy but honestly the guys do the best they can with what they know. They think anything you choose is beautiful. It’s their wedding day too so you have to make sure they have a great time as well. Enjoy each other, every second because it goes by so fast. Appreciate everyone who is there because yes, it is a big deal… they traveled all this way for you. DO NOT worry about making everyone happy, that’s never possible. Just enjoy your day with the love of your life!”
